Michigan Donated Dental Services (DDS)
Volunteer dentists participating with the Michigan Donated Dental Services (DDS) program have dedicated their talents to provide free comprehensive dental treatment to more than 5,800 of Michigan’s most vulnerable citizens since 1995. These dentists provide once-in-a-lifetime desperately needed care to elderly, permanently disabled or medically fragile patients who are low income and have no other means of getting the dental treatment they need. Many of these patients may need their dental issues addressed before they can receive live-saving medical care such as transplants and invasive surgeries where their poor oral health puts them at greater risk for complications and even death. Others may have poor oral health as a result of aggressive cancer treatments or medications.
