Subject: Mental Health & Oral Health: Let Us Know How You Feel!
These days, so many of us carry far more than we let on. But if we don’t share how we feel, how does anyone know what we’re going through?
Right now, mental health is on everyone’s mind. As a society, people are finally starting to open up and talk about their experiences with depression, stress, anxiety, and insomnia. At our practice, we believe this is a great thing! Why? Because it helps us meet our patients where they are and provide the personalized care they need to get through today and face tomorrow too.
Mental health challenges are a part of life. When we ask you, “How are you feeling?” we genuinely want to know! When we don’t feel our best, our struggles can affect our well-being in many ways, including our oral health:
- Depression can get in the way of daily hygiene habits like brushing and flossing.
- Anxiety can make scheduling and showing up for an appointment seem nearly impossible.
- New or additional stress may contribute to teeth grinding, clenching, and jaw tension.
If you are facing mental health challenges, we invite you to share your experience with us so we can provide you with the best possible care at each visit. When anxiety makes it challenging to receive dental care, let us know. Our team will work with you to keep you comfortable.
