Subject: Kids Explain Cavities

You can get cavities if you have baby teeth, grown-up teeth, or even a single tooth. This common and preventable dental disease occurs in children, adults, and seniors.

To explain how cavities form, our friends at the Michigan Dental Association called in some cute little experts. With a healthy dose of imagination, kids explain cavities in a way that people of all ages can relate to in the video found here: https://www.smilemichigan.com/the-smile-connection/big-stories-from-little-mouths/

As these little ones will tell you, don’t forget to do your part to prevent cavities by:

  • Brushing twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste (supervise brushing in kids under 6).
  • Flossing daily.
  • Coming in for a dental checkup every six months.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

[Your Practice Name]

The truth about cavities according to a 9-year-old, “when you brush your teeth, toothpaste turns into a small army that fights against sugar.” Cute … but here’s the real story: http://www.smilemichigan.com/Cavities

When kids ask, “what’s a cavity?” sometimes you need to bring in someone their own age to give it to them straight. (Watch this video with the little ones in your life!)

This little patient said that when you brush your teeth, a toothpaste fighter zaps away sugar bugs so they won’t cause acid in your mouth. There’s a little more to it than that … but what an imagination! #cavities #brushyourteeth #kidsdentist

The “sugar bugs” he thinks are responsible for cavities may be figment of a child’s imagination, but cavities themselves — they’re definitely real! Encourage kids to brush twice a day and help keep cavities away. #cavities #kidsdentist #brushyourteeth
