Dr. Michael Maihofer will discuss what is new at the Michigan Dental Association and provide insight on some programs you may not know about.

Cracked Teeth: To Condemn or Not to Condemn

Dr. Arthur Lamia will discuss Cracked teeth and provide tips on evaluating them for different treatments.

Learning objectives:

  • Be better able to identify cracked teeth and root fractures based on certain diagnostic criteria.
  • Better understand the structural and pulp biologic progression of the cracked tooth.
  • Identify with and perform the proper protocol of treatment related to the cracked tooth.
  • Be better able to use CBCT imagery for improved diagnosis of fractures and improved prognosis evaluation.

About the speakers … Dr. Michael Maihofer is president of the Michigan Dental Association and an active volunteer with an impressive record of service. With the Macomb District Dental Society, he served as editor, secretary, president-elect, and president. At the MDA he served on the MDA Board of Trustees, as editor, and has chaired numerous committees. Dr. Maihofer is also a former president of the American Association of Dental Editors and Journalists, a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, a former chair of the Michigan Section of the American College of Dentists, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, and a Fellow of the Michigan Section of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, where he also served as editor.

Dr. Arthur Lamia is a board-certified endodontist, a part-time clinical associate professor at the State University of New York Stony Brook Dental School, and a guest speaker and oral board examiner at the University Of Michigan School Of Dentistry. He completed his dental training at New York University College of Dentistry and received his specialty certificate and Master’s degree in endodontics at U-M. He is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, and a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He has conducted numerous seminars nationally on topics related to endodontics, restorative dentistry, implant dentistry, and CBCT imagery. His recent areas of interest include guided endodontic treatment and targeted endodontic microsurgery.
