Managing others is not an easy task and knowing what to do when an employee is struggling can often be the most difficult part of the job. The effectiveness of your intervention will depend, in part, on the type of issue you are trying to address. Performance issues require a different strategy to resolve than behavior issues do but diagnosing which problem you are dealing with is not always obvious. Jodi Schafer, Owner of HRM Services, has been leading clients through difficult situations like these for almost two decades.

Learning objectives:

  • How to spot issues and diagnosis root causes.
  • How to apply effective intervention strategies.
  • How to have difficult conversations with staff who are experiencing these issues.
  • How to document your actions for follow-up and future use.

As the popularity and accessibility of dental implants increases each year, there has been a corresponding increase in the incidence of implant complications including peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis. Inflammatory destruction of tissues surrounding implants can occur at a rapid rate, resulting in very difficult situations for clinicians to manage. However, despite the popularity of implants, there is still a dearth of information regarding the proper management of these conditions.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define prevalence, etiology and risk factors, non-surgical treatment, surgical treatment and prevention of peri-implantitis.
  • Help with diagnosing and treating peri-implant inflammatory conditions.

About the speaker … Dr. Peter Holden is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology who practices in Midland and Mt. Pleasant, Mich. He earned his dental degree at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. After graduation, Dr. Holden commissioned into the U.S. Air Force. While serving in the Air Force, he completed his periodontal residency program and also received his Master of Science Degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
