This webinar is designed for general dentists, dental hygienists, and dental specialists andl consists of a 50-minute presentation of clinical cases focusing on pathology of interest to oral health care providers with an emphasis on premalignant lesions and cancer.

Learning objectives:

  • Develop a focused differential diagnosis for ulcerative and immune-mediated conditions of the oral cavity.
  • Identify management strategies for ulcerative and immune-mediated conditions of the oral cavity including when to biopsy a lesion and when an interdisciplinary approach is required.
  • Discuss clinical findings and management options for patients with pre-malignant and malignant lesions of the oral cavity.
  • Discuss the latest treatment guidelines for oral cancer.

About the speaker … Dr. Theodora Danciu is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial pathologist and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine at University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She received her DMD, DMSc in oral biology and specialty training at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She continued her training as a post-doctoral fellow in cellular and molecular biology and served as Instructor in the Department of Developmental Biology at Harvard University before joining the University of Michigan in 2007. Dr. Danciu is the director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology Biopsy Service and also maintains an active clinical practice providing histopathological interpretation and diagnoses in addition to managing patients with complex mucosal diseases.
