Often, patients with periodontal disease are put into maintenance programs when active therapy is truly needed. This course will help you understand the differences between active therapy and maintenance. This course will also help you realize why it is so important to treat periodontal disease properly. You will also be able to better decide which cases to keep and treat vs. which ones to refer to a periodontist. This course will also review dental implant maintenance and help you to know when an implant is becoming a problem.

Learning objectives:

  • Facilitate better diagnosis of periodontal disease.
  • Understand the differences between active therapies and periodontal maintenance.
  • Learn what defines periodontal health.
  • Find out why SRP is not always a definitive treatment for periodontal disease.
  • Understand implant maintenance better.
