Speaker Bio

Catherine Flaitz, DDS, MS, is professor and chair of the Division of Pediatric Dentistry at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, and also the chief of dentistry at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Dr. Flaitz earned her dental degree from Creighton University and received specialty certification and M.S. degree in pediatric dentistry, followed by specialty certification in oral and maxillofacial pathology from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. She participates on multiple editorial boards including Pediatric Dentistry, Journal of the American Dental Association, and Journal of Dentistry for Children. Presently, she is the pediatric dentistry consultant for the Commission on Dental Accreditation, and is the past member of the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. This year, she was elected as Director, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Some of her honors include recipient of the University of Texas Health President’s Scholar Award for Teaching Excellence and the Texas Dentist of the Year through the Texas Academy of General Dentistry. In conjunction with the pediatric dentistry residency program, Dr. Flaitz maintains a clinical practice and consultation service in a top-ranked children’s hospital.
