CE Credits

One hour of course attendance equals one CE credit.

The Michigan Dental Association is a nationally approved continuing education provider through the ADA Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP). The current term of approval extends from November 2015 through December 2019. The Michigan Board of Dentistry recognizes ADA CERP providers and will accept Michigan Dental Association credits toward license renewal.

This two-hour lecture (one CE credit available) is intended to inform unlicensed dental assistants about the pathways available to obtain their RDA license while maintaining employment. It will also discuss the demand for licensed dental assistants and explain the pathways currently available to obtain RDA licensure. It is helpful if employers could attend as well, to better understand their role in assuring the assistant will be successful.

Learning objectives:

  • Define assistant and Registered Dental Assistant as recognized in Michigan’s Administrative Rules.
  • Discuss the various other credentials assistants are utilizing.
  • Discuss the options to obtain RDA education focusing on Washtenaw Community College’s online program.
  • Differentiate between assignment, general and direct supervision, and define Second Pair of Hands.
  • Review each duty that may be delegated with scenarios, and review the radiography training requirement.
